Let us ruminate on art-related difficulties.

I haven't had many good ideas about what to write lately. There is nothing of note. As usual, I am working on new versions of the same painting I keep painting ad infinitum, variations of shapes in space. • About New Elephant Factory.

New Elephant Factory is an artist's website; it is the umbrella for all my visual endeavors. I'm Naomi, a person just trying to make some paintings and drawings in Pittsburgh, PA. I paint mostly in acrylic, and mostly in abstractions of landscapes and minerals, with some sympathetic animals thrown in for good measure. Abstraction is necessary for me because it's in that dreamlike, heightening and distilling space of engagement with what is already there that we arrive at the potential for what is not, and where we confront impending loss, impending change. I graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2008 and the University of Pittsburgh in 2011.
